It started…

Po Hang Yuen (b. 1996) is a composer, guitarist and arranger. Born and raised in Guangzhou, Po Hang is a composer who draws inspiration from Eastern cultures, philosophies and writes music that portray Chinese and East Asian imageries.

Yuen earned his B.A. in Music from the University of Hong Kong, M.Mus in Composition (Distinction) from King’s College London, and he just graduated with his second M.Mus in Composition at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, UK. From September 2023, he will begin pursuing a doctorate at the Guildhall School of Music and Dance.

Yuen’s music has been performed and read in Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Columbia, Finland, Russia, United Kingdom and United States by artists and musicians from Avanti Chamber Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Britten Sinfonia, Cénit Ensamble, Juilliard String Quartet, Lontano, Offspring, Phace, Psappha, Quatuor Diotima, Sofia Philharmonic, Trio Immersio, among others. Festivals and schemes that have featured his work include Britten Sinfonia: Opus 1, East Chamber Music, Impulse New Music Festival, Sofia Symphonic Summit, Time, Space and the Body Residency, Vienna Summer Music Festival and Zero Distance Exhibition.
